Please answer the following questions using Academic Search Premier.  Click on Edit Page and enter the password library.  Type your responses in the boxes provided.  When finished, click Save.

 

You are researching freedom of expression on blogs.

 

1. Do a search for freedom of expression.  Do not set any limits.  How many results do you get?

2. Do a new search for "freedom of expression."  Make sure to put the term in quotes.  How many results do you get this time?

4. Look at the full record for the first article in the list.  What is this article about?  Is it on topic?

 

 

The article discusses the conflict in Iranian society in which the people wish to create an free and uncensored environment for them to express themselves.  Journalsists have used the internet as a way to express themselves, but the government has managed to take control and fliter their usage of blogs.  This article is on topic because it discusses the conflicts that go along with the ability to have freedom of speech.

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Return to your list of results.  Find a scholarly/academic article in the list.  Type the title of the article and explain how you know it is scholarly.  List 3 reasons.

 

 

 The title of the article is New Laguages, and New Consumers: Changing Italian Media-Scapes.  We know this article is scholaraly because it falls under the category of and academic journal, we refined the serch to only give scholarly results, and the information it provides comes from an actual study that was preformed.

 We could truncate the term by keeping freedom of expression in quotes, and putting an astrix after blog.

8. Type 1 or 2 synonyms for freedom of expression and blogs.  How did you come up with these terms?  (Hint: Subjects, Thesaurus, brainstorming) 

 

 

 Two synonyms for freedom of expression and blogs would be, freedom of speech and message boards.  We came up with these terms by broadining the subjects to larger subjects that they would be found in.
